Install

Put CruiseBuddy on your home screen.

CruiseBuddy installs straight from your browser, with no app store in between. Once it is on your home screen or dock it opens full screen, works at sea without a signal and can remind you when something is due. It takes about ten seconds.

Choose your device

First open app.cruise-buddy.app on the device you want to install it on, then follow the steps for that device.

iPhone and iPad

In Safari.

  1. Open app.cruise-buddy.app in Safari.
  2. Tap the Share button.
  3. Scroll down and tap Add to Home Screen.
  4. Tap Add. CruiseBuddy now opens from its own icon.

Android

In Chrome.

  1. Open app.cruise-buddy.app in Chrome.
  2. Tap Install if Chrome offers it, or open the ⋮ menu.
  3. Tap Install app or Add to home screen.
  4. Confirm, and CruiseBuddy appears with your other apps.

Mac, Windows and Linux

In Chrome, Edge or Safari.

  1. Open app.cruise-buddy.app.
  2. In Chrome or Edge, select the install icon at the right of the address bar.
  3. In Safari on a Mac, choose File › Add to Dock.
  4. CruiseBuddy opens in its own window, and you can pin it to your dock or taskbar.

On an iPhone, installing matters more than it looks. Safari can clear what a website has stored if you have not visited it for a while. An app on your home screen is kept. If the copy on a device is ever cleared, your plans are still safe: sign in again and enter your recovery code.

Allow notifications and CruiseBuddy can tell you when a reminder is due. On an iPhone this needs the installed app.

Always up to date

There is nothing to update from a store. When a new version is ready, CruiseBuddy lets you know.

Share into it

On Android, share a booking PDF or confirmation email straight into CruiseBuddy from another app.

Private by design

Plans are encrypted on the device before they sync. Installing changes nothing about who can read them: only you.

Installing, answered

Is it a proper app once it is installed?

Yes. It is the same CruiseBuddy you use in the browser, installed straight from the browser. It gets its own icon and window, works offline and can send reminders.

I don't see "Add to Home Screen" or "Install".

On an iPhone or iPad, check that you opened the page in Safari and scroll further down the Share menu. On Android, use Chrome. On a computer, Chrome, Edge and Safari on a Mac all support it. If you are still stuck, contact support.

Do I need to install it on every device?

Install it on each device you want it on, and sign in with the same email address. Your cruises are the same everywhere.

How do I remove it?

Remove it like any other app: press and hold the icon on a phone, or uninstall it from the app's menu on a computer. Your plans stay in your account until you delete them.
